The mother plant is fine. My little babies were about the size of the ones you said were too small to root. I used to live in a northern climate as well and although things would take a bit longer in winter it worked perfectly fine. Don’t worry if your plantlet might drop a leaf right after potting, it went through some stress being removed from the mother and being potted up. I’ve never seen anyone do that with Pileas but I suppose it could be helpful, or at least not harmful, as long as you watch carefully for fungus. With a Pilea leaf only and no trunk cutting, the leaf will root, but no new leaves will grow. So the leaf got pulled off but the stem is still there?

Since it already has roots, it should show new growth fairly soon.Pileas grow towards the light, so rotate your Pilea plantlet regularly for even growth.You can also pot up two little plantlets in a bit bigger pot to have a fuller plant from the start.When you see that your new Pilea plantlets are settling in well and showing new growth, One last thing.

I propagated 2 pups from the stems of my mature Pilea. Pilea plants do need to have matured for them to start sprouting pups. Then, just pop them into smaller pots of their own and keep the soil lightly moist. ?With houseplants, there is never a reason not to try!
