It's a very neutral, warm gray in my house in every room and lighting condition.
That said, pastels are always good with blonde wood and I don't mean Holly Hobby looking shades, but retro ice-cream colors (think Audrey Hepburn movies in the late 50s/early 60s), or the newer grayed down versions like SW 6183 Conservative Gray or 7057 Silver Strand. … In bright, natural light, it will look like a warm off-white. But I live in a desert climate with a light quality completely different from my last tropical climate house.

Why? It is crisp and neither too warm nor too cool.
Although, if you have an island, you could paint the island Pale Oak too. Here Pale Oak reads as a light taupe, expertly fading into the background so that the decor can be the star of the show.In this space, Pale Oak has just enough color to it to read as a soft off-white, which is perfect for making this small space feel large and airy.Pale Oak exhibits just the slightest of warm pale gray here.
Gray and gold can actually be a very chic combination, if you repeat those tones throughout the space.
We are building and I am planning to use White Dove as our wall color in the main living areas with Morning Dew as the trim color.

Just painted my whole downstairs that color with White Dove trim. Even the popular White Dove seems too white. Plus, it will look a little different because it will likely be a different sheen and is on a different application. While Pale Oak is pretty, maybe the reason I am hesitant to choose a trim color is because Pale Oak won't be the "blank canvas" neutral wall color that I am imagining.

The white on the trim when you buy it is usually just primed and you have to paint over.
I am using Pure White SW 7005 LRV 86 for the ceilings as we really want the trim to stand out since pale oak is such a soft color. Move them around. However, I also have cellular shades that are a light beige that lean more peach than ivory, plus I have a few blackout shades that are a dark warm gray - so I would like a trim color that is very neutral and won't have any … Agree with you that pale oak is a beautiful color - we did most of our interiors in it and love it.I should add that I didn’t want a yellow white but also didn’t want a cold white and Cotton Balls fit the bill.My current house is Pale Oak with White Dove trim.
