I load a hard cast 125gn for my 38 special all the time.I don't know what bullets you have, but Berry's recommends per their website to use hard cast data for their plated bullets. If there is a search function for these forums (didn't see one) I'd be happy to use that too...Go to the Alliant website and find the data for Unique and Bullseye. 38 spl with a 158 gr SWC or for light snub nose with a 125 gr cast bullet it's an excelent choice.

It is also probably the single most useful powder in the world. Case head expansion only occurs at rifle pressures. I loaded some 38 Special with 5.7 gr of Unique which is what Speer recommends and is within the range for the 125 grain bullets in the Lyman manual.

However, data table says PSI so that's what I put in post #11.

With a 125 grain jacketed bullet, most load data today cuts off at 6 grains of Unique.

I figure that if the sound of the .38 Special will not thwart a problem, the power of the .357 will.For handloading, the .38 Special is extremely versatile. Good job on you!I haven't used any of those powders but I like faster powders in 38 Special like Titegroup and Clays. I've used 6.0 Unique under a 160gr.
