The 358402 (120 gr) lists 9.4 gr of Unique as the max load in .357 Mag. The Speer listed velocity for this load out of a 6 inch Python was 1034 ft per second....I can only imagine how slow it was out of my 4 inch.

FTX® 308 Winchester 125 gr. of Unique. I looked at .38 Special and (I think) .357 Magnum and there was no data for 158 gr lead bullets.

Looking at them on their website they appear to be different than the usual plated bullets as there’s a distinct seam at the base of the bullet.
so it should produce a rather moderate 357 Magnum loading. 44 Rem.

Funny you just posted i recently bought unique for my 357 mag. These Montana Gold bullets are jacketed so no keeping under the 1250fps speed limit of the plated Berry’s or Rainier variety (though I’m probably just barely challenging that velocity with my load.) Shooting loads of 700X and a Lee 358-125-RNFP, it is something to behold. FYI, I use this with my 686 3" Talo
Unique or 2400, is all the same, regardless of age, but can vary by small amounts between lots. No load data in Hornady #8 Speer # 14 shows Unique minimum 8.6 (1259) - maximum 9.6 (1343fps) When I started loading about 35 years ago, Unique and Bullseye were just about the only powders that I used, but then I only loaded .38 and .357 magnum.
bear in mind that the 357's extra length over a 38 spec is more a safety function with a ballistic bonus. That variation is the reason you should always work up to a load, since you don't know for sure what lot they used in the data. 4.7 and max 5.2. My guess is the 6.7 grains of HP-38 might be considered a mid-level load.Every time I shoot that D11 I’m amazed at the accuracy.
